About Me

A tiny bit about good old moi, to give you a sense of who you'd be working with...

Welcome!

Very glad to meet you! Well, I'm not really meeting you right now... Consider this more like a super advanced hologram of me, welcoming you into my world. Without the hologram. And not that advanced either. Ok, so it's just an "About" page. But: with pizzazz!

Let me tell you a bit more about myself: if you are still reading so far, you must be at least a little curious about the type of freelancer I am.

Well, first of all, I would prefer you call me a "collaborator" - at least that's how I'll think of you when we work together... The thing is, when I take on your project, it's because I know I can help, I know I can make a difference in your life. This is why I got into programming in the first place: I realized early on it was my way of helping out, of making a difference in the world. Oh sure, I'm not saving any lives, I know. But thankfully, we don't all have to save lives to make a difference!

The very first step I will take with you is getting to know your business a little bit better: how you work, what your processes are, who are your clients and why they love your brand so much. I want to immerse myself in your world, so I can ask smart questions down the road when we build your app.

I fully realize I can't know everything about your company though: that's why I call this a collaboration. You are the expert on your business, and I'm the expert on web app building. Combined, and through collaboration, we can build the best possible app for you, one that will fit you, your team and your client like a glove.

Still curious? Check out a brief description of the full process just below, look at my portfolio (including nice things clients had to say about our collaboration) and, I don't mean to be pushy or anything, but drop me a note maybe?

My Process

It's easy - and risk free - to get started. Drop me a line with a short description of your needs. If you have a business website, please include its URL so I can learn a bit more about the business behind the person.

I’ll reply to you within 48 hours, and we can schedule a free, one hour chat (Skype, phone, coffee shop, …) to better flesh out what it is you will need. I’ll answer any question you might have about app making - or about myself.

If we’re both happy with this first contact, we’ll start the process.

1
Plant a nibnut
2-3 hours of brainstorming to establish what the app will do, how it will function. A very pleasant step, I assure you: sky’s the limit! We end up with a list of the best features to include in the first version of your app.
2
Spec it out
I will produce a detailed specifications document, that you will be able to use to shop around. I will produce my estimate of the work required to make your app a reality.
3
Mock it up
Mockups of some of the main screens of the app, so we can nail down the look and feel. I am starved for your input: we are laying out the foundation, the more you participate, the better the outcome.
4
Grow it
I set up a staging area so you can see your app grow from week to week. My weekly status report let you know what's been added, so you can test it out and let me know what you think.

The price for the first two steps is $ 500 (+ tax, if applicable) and you are left with a spec sheet of the work needed to grow your app. You can then take that document and shop around, get estimates from other developers: I want you to find the best fit for you.

If you hire me for the job, that amount will be deducted from the final invoice.

We are delighted by the custom web app that Jean has built for our company. It allows our customers to get better insights into the services we provide so there’s huge value there for us and for our customers. Jean came highly recommended by a mutual friend and he did not disappoint. Jean is a creative thinker and comes with great ideas. I would highly recommend him to any company looking to build an awesome app! He certainly lives up to his title as “Your trusty app maker”
